What is SSL?
 SSL is protocol encoding data transmission in the Internet. Rapid development of telecommunication and economy brought confidentiality and safety as searched and wanted values.
SSL may be used both to protect/send data from a website (e. g. personal details form, administration panel, bank account service) and e-mails (sending and receiving mails). At the moment of starting encoding process all the data send on the line user- server are encoded. Encoding power ( typically 128 bits) makes overhearing the transmission practically impossible.
SSL Certificate
 Certificate is a sort of identity card of the WWW server. Except for protection function, it plays also authenticating role. Certificates' issuers, depending on their class, check subject, which needs the protection (e. g. by insight into register documents, information from economic intelligence, etc.).
A factor of the certificate's class is also its acceptance by the Internet browsers. They accepted certificates issued by Thawte and Verisign companies a few years ago. Finding another certificate resulted with displaying potential danger message. Following versions of Internet Explorer and Netscape Communicator have gradually increased the list of certificates default accepted.
